Job Description

The Kitchen Suppression Inspection Technician is primarily responsible for inspecting, servicing, and performing minor repairs on fire suppression systems in restaurant hood and paint booth applications. Inspecting and servicing pre-engineered systems is a high liability for the company. To excel in this position, a desired candidate performs the full job in accordance with the manufacture specifications, local & national fire codes, can work with little supervision, has good communication skills, references the manual when questions arise, and is consistently looking out for the customer’s best interest.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform routine service, inspection, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on special hazard fire suppression and other related system products (including restaurant kitchen hoods, industrial paint booths, mobile applications, fire extinguishers, emergency & exit lighting)
  • Consult and advise customers regarding potential safety concerns (i.e., system deficiencies, electrical issues, heavy grease in exhaust hood, additional fire extinguishers, etc.)
  • Service, troubleshoot and inspect several different manufacturers’ systems (including ANSUL, Amerex, Buckeye, Pyro-Chem, & Range-Guard)
  • Identify NFPA code and other non-conformance issues and make recommendations for repairs or preventive maintenance
  • Ensure customers are serviced to the highest level of satisfaction through quality service and that the customers’ expectations are satisfied before leaving the job site
  • Review inspection report with customer and provide a detailed explanation of inspection results
  • Use apps to complete & produce reports that are legible, accurate & detailed prior to leaving job site
  • Stay current with code requirements and industry changes
  • Attend and complete all required safety training, company & manufacture certified training courses
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required

What You’ll Bring

  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • 2+ years prior relevant work experience (preferred)
  • Able to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and occasional weekend(s) to meet customer needs
  • Able to carry and move tools and equipment weighing up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiples times a day
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions – i.e., working around ductwork, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

  • CSA Certification (must obtain within first year of hire)
  • Organized, systematic and adherent to deadlines
