Job Description
The Fire Alarm Service Technician is primarily responsible for servicing, repairing, programming, and replacing Fire Alarm system products and panels to the prescribed standards, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service ticket reports. A desired candidate performs the full job despite site and weather conditions, can work independently with little supervision, has excellent communication skills, and is consistently looking out for the customer and company’s best interest.

What You’ll Do
- Perform fire alarm system repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and replace defective parts
- Perform programming on fire alarm systems
- Use device manuals to repair non-functioning fire alarms and restore fire alarms to original functionality
- Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires, or strappings
- Repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications
- Ensure compliance to fire and electrical codes
- Demonstrate systems for customers and explain causes and consequences of false alarms
- Educate customers on preventative care and regular maintenance to prevent system malfunctions
- Communication daily with service manager and dispatchers on project delays, requirements, and general status of job
- Keeps tools and equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, etc.
- Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate, and detailed
- Invoice paperwork in a timely manner
- Stay current with code requirements and industry changes
- Attend and complete all required trainings, including safety training
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required
What You’ll Bring
- Valid driver’s license
- 3+ years prior, relevant work experience
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Able to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer needs
- Able to lift, carry, and move tools and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions – climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
How You Will Be Successful
- Able to travel to multiple job sites each day
- Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiples times a day
- High precision/ detail-oriented
- Able to use a computer and read blueprints
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of fire systems and tools
- Willing to work effectively and efficiently while performing all aspects of the required job
- Willing to learn and gain additional certifications

- Knowledge working in Profit Zoom, Building Reports, and Paylocity
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
